Membership Grades

The Association of Chartered Loss Prevention Specialists of Canada (ChLPS-Canada) offers four distinct membership categories tailored to professionals and organizations in the field of loss prevention and corporate security. These membership grades are Licentiate Member, Associate Member, Certified Member, and Corporate Member. Each grade represents a stage in the professional journey and comes with specific benefits, requirements, and opportunities.

  • Entry Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interest in loss prevention, security, or asset protection.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Must commit to the ChLPS Code of Ethics.

  • Intermediate-level professional designation (ALPS™).
  • Access to advanced training modules, including CLPA™.

  • Entry Requirements
  • Completion of the CLPO™ program or equivalent professional experience (minimum 1 year).
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Letter of recommendation from a Certified Member or professional reference.

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in loss prevention or corporate security.
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional diploma in security/loss prevention-related field.
  • Completion of a Professional Competency Interview (PCI) or written submission.
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD and ethical practice.
